Taking an installation snapshot

Many plugins support taking a snapshot of installation configuration and retrieving it back to the framework server for use to either perform comparisons over time or to use as a basis (template) to to create new installation. Look for the 'Snapshot' task in the list of tasks for the product you wish to snapshot.

Prerequisites for taking snapshots

These will vary from plugin to plugin, so each plugin will define its own prerequisites for taking snapshots.

Setting up a snapshot

  1. Log into the framework server. Go to Projects. Select the project to or create a new one.
  2. On the Orchestration tab, select the 'Add Task' and choose the snapshot task you require. If not present in the list, ensure the plugin is installed. You can perform a generic filesystem snapshot by selecting that snapshot from the 'File - Operations' category.
  3. Ensure the prerequisites are met and complete the task fields with the required data
  4. Save the project
  5. Check the appropriate target exists
  6. Create a package and run the job in the normal way.
